Naming the days of the week

The ancient Babylonians, then the Romans, named the days of the week after planets and the other bodies they saw in the sky. Some names we know today come from the names of Scandinavian gods. Monday Moon's day Tuesday Tiu's day: Mars, the Roman gos of war, was adapted in Scandinavian mythology as the warrior Tiu or Tiw. Wednesday Woden's day: the Roman go Mercury became the Scandinavian god Woden. Thursday Thor's day: like Roman god Jupiter, Thor was a thunder god. Friday Freyja's day: like Venus, Freyja or Frigg was the godness of love. Saturday Saturn's day Sunday Sun's day
